The D2Grids project – a PRESENTATION by Herman H.E.W. Eijdems, MSc

In the city of Heerlen, we were challenged to build a District Heating system by sourcing warm water from abandoned mines.

Being able to exchange heat and cold between end users and to admit low-T waste heat were part of the preconditions for the design, that has been built the past ten years, and now is a system with proofed technology.

In an Interreg funded project, called D2Grids we formulated a basis for 5GDHC, in the form of 5 Principles, KPI’s and pilots to analyse and evaluate the theory.

Moreover, we wanted to interest industries to get the right products and lower prices, Universities to set up trainings and courses and large investors.

Herman H.E.W. Eijdems will do a 30-minute presentation followed by a 20-minute Q&A.
